Random-Impulsive Korean Week
On the last week of holiday, we started having karaokes everyday and most of the songs that we sung were Korean song. So we decided to call it Korean week. At first it was solely for Korean karaokes, but then we started venturing after shopping at Setiabudi Market.
I asked Poppy and Pajay to accompany me grocery shopping at Setiabudi Market and then after that we decided to go karaoke-ing again. On our way, we spotted this Korean restaurant, coincidentally we were hungry. At first we hesitated to eat there aside from being expensive, the atmosphere was pretty awkward. But then oh well, we ate there anyway. Not regretting it one bit! We ate Dolsot Bibimbap (돌솥 비빔밥) and Samgyetang (삼계탕). It was really delicious!
Karaoke was fun, as usual we sing 2NE1's songs. Pajay was all over Kim Jong Kook's Sarang Surowo. Poppy went crazy when it comes to 2NE1's I'm The Best.
Then we ended our Korean fandom week with an event held the next week. Which was a Korean-Indonesian gathering. We met Su Ji and Phillip there. They were so fun to talk to. Apparently Phillip could speak Indonesian really well considering being here only for 9 months.
I'd love to spend time like this more. I mean, for the whole week, I guess I feel like I burst out of the old routine and finally meet new people. Hoping to do more things like this in 2012. 화이팅!
PS: Because of Pajay, the song Sarang Surowo is stuck in my head now and I'm totally hooked to Running Man. Ah, my life!

A Meeting of a Weird Set of People
It all started with the application called WhatsApp. Poppy, Dessy, Pajay, and me have it on our phones. So we created a group called "katanya suruh konfrens" (which in English means "you said you wanted a conference") for us to chat with each other in a group, while we all were away for the holidays. Conversations were crazy, especially because the emoticons that WhatsApp have. We all like to use those cute emoticons to express some ideas. Especially Pajay, he really likes to use the emoticons to do magic tricks. Eventually our talks were getting crazier and fun! One day, Pajay asked us to do a gathering for our weird group. He said it'll be like 4 random people who don't know each other except from the WhatsApp finally meet in real life. I thought it would be a great idea. I mean, come on, it doesn't happen everyday. So we set the time, place, and we actually had a dress code which was "scarfs". We had to wear them to the gathering.
The night has come for us to meet up at our favorite place, Magic Pizza. That whole night was really full of scenarios. We even had to go there separately to avoid looking like we know each other. Even my trip to Magic Pizza was a scenario. On my way there, I was riding one of Bandung's renowned public transportation which is the 'angkot'. I was riding the Stasion-Dago angkot. And unlike any other night it was empty all the way. I like empty angkots, at that time I felt as if I can reflect on my self while speeding through the night and the lights outside the window are glimmering through. But then there's this guy who came in a hurry and breaking the sweet silence. He looked really cute, can't deny it. Though it was really dark, I can't tell, but let's just say he was cute. So I started to plot up this scenario in my head, it was like a romantic love story kind of thing. I don't even know why I did that. Maybe that guy was feeling uncomfortable also by my constant glancing (though I was being really discreet with it). In the end, he got off the angkot before me, and I was left alone again to continue my journey.
When I arrived, I saw Dessy and Poppy already there. I slowly approached them and said "Are you Poppy and Dessy?", as if we just met for the first time. It was SUPER awkward. But we had a laugh about it. The whole night was really fun to do actually. Had really tasty foods, a fun talk, and stuff. And the fact that we did this out of random reasons are like a new experience for me. Meeting up with random people isn't easy nowadays. I mean, people are more individual now. But with this, I can say that I want to meet up with new people and get to know them a lot. Maybe another day we could really have a real gathering with random people. Because being random is fun.

Gabriel Garcia
This is a portrait of Gabe Garcia, the vocalist of Black Tide. Acrylic on canvas.
My hands were itching to touch a canvas, but too lazy to use oil.
So this is pretty much a spur of the moment.

A Little Something For Me
For my birthday last December, my sister gave me several presents that she bought from the event Brightspot Market. I wasn't able to attend Brightspot Market for the second time, due to being so busy with campus assignments and several works, then I got sick (and that also made me cancel my trip to the Yogyakarta Biennale). But she told me that she was buying me a present from there, I never thought that she bought three. Among those three (which are a jacket from Cotton Ink and a dress from Nikicio), she bought me a necklace that's the utmost unique thing I've seen.
The necklace was from Tarita Aurora. The fact that this necklace is like nothing what I've seen before makes it more interesting. I have a great fondness towards feathers and this necklace is perfect to convey how I love it. And also, my sister mentioned that I should keep the packaging safe so that I could store the necklace away without harm to it. The package also looks hand-made; that makes it more special to have this necklace.
I fancy this necklace, A LOT. I can't help but say these kind of accessories portray me in some kind of mysterious ways. I'm so happy that my sister gave me this, I'm especially picky when it comes to necklaces, since I don't wear them a lot. But this one..., this one is just amazing. I will hold this necklace near and dear to me.
Dear, Ms. Tarita Aurora, congratulations because you've just got a new fan here; I'm in love with your work!
Thanks a bunch sis!

km.0
km.0 is an exhibition by Seni Grafis ITB '10, the printmaking division in my faculty, held today (11th January) until the 15th of January at Padi Gallery. I was actually still lolly-gagging in my room when my friend, Pajay, texted me to come to the exhibition. Although it was late, I had to come since I don't know wether I could go on another day and it was also the opening night. So I rushed my self outside, met Pajay, and we walked our way in the night to the exhibition. 'Twas a sight to see all my friends were having so much fun there. And there was even Hasnan, a friend of mine who went to America to study.
All the prints were made for assignments on the previous semester. And may I say I was intrigued by the different feel each artist gave off. I'm proud of my friends for making this exhibition a success. And the finished piece of the Indian drypoint (by my friend Cungek) that I used for my quick sketch is up there being exhibited also. Congrats to Klanting, Cungek, Reuben, Geugeut, Rama, Aming, Afin, Shita, Happy, Moe, Bebek, Hilma, Hajar, Danti, and Tata!

2012
Hello there 2012.
The whole world is celebrating the biggest annual change today, which is the change of the year. Filled with fireworks flying everywhere. Not to mention last night felt like Bandung was in war. Sounds of fireworks remind me of bombs falling down from planes, just like in the movies. But that's just a somber outtake towards what should be a festive night. None the less, I celebrated with several friends and it was fun. Even though the barbecue we intended failed miserably, the firework display compensated.
The change of the year definitely got me thinking. When I was on my way back from shopping for groceries on December 31st 2011, under the heat of the blazing sun I kept on thinking in my head; what is time? Time is something precious, isn't it? Time is something we can't get away from, right? Well, it might be all of that and I don't even know the answer. But what I know is that time is not what appears to be. Seconds, minutes, hours, weeks, days, months, years, decades, millenniums, era; they're not time. They are a thing that we create to measure time, to categorize time, to give time a form, but it's not the true form of time. And us growing old, the change that happened to the things around us, that's just the outcome of time and proof that time exist. But time itself, does it have a form? What is time? Why must we celebrate the change of a year when a change of each second is as significant?
At that moment I was reminded of my lecturer who actually started the discussion about time with me and several friends. I wasn't sure what he talked about then, but now I feel like I'm closer to an understanding even though I'm still far from the answer I seek. Dare say, I think time is something closer to us than we think. Time is every living thing in this planet. Time is every thing in this universe. Time is our whole existence. We can't touch time, because time is something within. It's like something attached to our souls, I guess. I don't know what I'm rambling about, I just want to let something out about time. As my time is slowly and surely will come to an end sooner or later. And because of that, I guess it's time for me to appreciate 'time' even more than before. In other words, appreciate myself and all that is around me. I can't say that this year will have something better for me than the previous one, but I can promise myself this: that I am a better person this year no, I am content to be who I am now, because the current me is better than the previous me. Who knows about future me, she's unknown. Just like Master Oogway said in Kung Fu Panda, "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present". Happy New Year 2012 everybody. Be content.
